Add, replace, and resize images in your deck
Images are essential for compelling pitch decks. The Crellus editor lets you add, replace, resize, and reposition images with ease.
Adding New Images
Via Uploads Panel
- Open the left sidebar
- Click the "Uploads" tab
- Click "Upload" to add new images to your library
- Or browse existing uploaded images
- Click an image to insert it into the current page
Uploading Images
- Click the "Upload" button in the Uploads panel
- Select images from your computer
- Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, HEIC, JPG
- Uploaded images are stored for reuse across pages
Working with Images
Selecting Images
- Click on an image to select it
- Selected images show resize handles
- The control panel shows image options
Moving Images
- Click and drag to move an image
- Alignment guides help with positioning
- Images snap to edges and other elements
Resizing Images
- Select the image to show resize handles
- Drag corner handles to resize proportionally
- Drag edge handles to resize in one direction
- Hold Shift while dragging corners to maintain aspect ratio
Rotating Images
- Select the image to show the rotation handle
- The rotation handle appears above the element
- Click and drag the rotation handle to rotate
Image Opacity
When an image is selected, you can adjust its opacity:
- Find the opacity slider in the control panel
- Drag to adjust from 0% (invisible) to 100% (fully opaque)
- Useful for creating overlay effects
Replacing Images
To replace an image with a different one:
- Delete the existing image (select and press Delete)
- Insert a new image from the Uploads panel
- Position and resize as needed
Tip: Upload replacement images to your library first, then quickly swap by deleting the old and inserting the new.
Image Layering
Images can be layered with other elements:
- Use the Layers panel to see layer order
- Right-click for layer options:
- Bring Forward - Move up one layer
- Bring to Front - Move to top layer
- Send Backward - Move down one layer
- Send to Back - Move to bottom layer
Searching Uploads
The Uploads panel includes a search feature:
- Type in the search box to filter images
- Search matches against file names
- Useful when you have many uploaded images
Best Practices
- Use high-resolution images for crisp quality
- Maintain consistent image styling across pages
- Don't stretch images out of proportion
- Consider the overall page composition when placing images
- Use opacity thoughtfully for overlay effects
Keyboard Shortcuts
- Click - Select image
- Delete/Backspace - Remove selected image
- Cmd/Ctrl+C - Copy selected image
- Cmd/Ctrl+V - Paste copied image
- Cmd/Ctrl+D - Duplicate selected image
